Deeper Encounter consists of two main elements; The Gathering, and The Encounter. The main purpose is for each student to develop and maintain a deeper walk with God.

The Gathering
Typically on a Saturday, this one-day gathering can also be tailored to fit a Discipleship Weekend or a one-night, citywide event. The goal is to huddle the church in order to call them to a deeper commitment to Christ. Much like a conference setting, the event is filled with practical teaching and anointed worship based on either theme A Call to Die or A Call to Grace. This is not just for the sake of gathering to learn more about God and sing the latest worship songs, but the heartbeat of this event is to prepare students to dive into a season of spiritual concentration.

The Encounter
Students are called to a 40-day fast. This is not a physical fast, but a spiritual journey. The average student usually fasts from something that takes several hours out of their day, such as television, the internet, etc. and replaces that activity with one of a spiritual nature such as Bible study, prayer, and worship.

Book and CD

Every participant will receive a book/journal, which will become an essential piece of "diving gear" that will lead each student through the following forty-day fast. The student will read the daily devotion, meditate on what God has said to them, and answer the questions in the journal. There is also scripture memorization assigned throughout each book.

There are two options (themes) to choose from. Option 1: A Call to Die. Option 2: A Call to Grace.

Option 1 is based on A Call to Die. This book/journal focuses on learning to live for Christ by daily dying to self. For 40 days, the reader will fast from the world to feast on God.

Option 2 is based on A Call to Grace. This 39-day book/journal focuses on the radical nature of the gospel with an in-depth and practical look at how to live a grace-filled life, how it’s not about doing but about being.

Psalm 119 is a ten-song worship record, which every student can receive. As the student memorizes these ten worship songs, they will also be memorizing the 17 scripture passages assigned to them in the fast for A Call to Die. An accompany CD for A Call to Grace is due out soon.

We want to warn you that this event is in many ways anti-entertainment. As you may have noticed, we are not trying to impress you with any Christian celebrities that are going to be there. The entire event is about what happens after the event.

Our prayer is that this 40-day season will have a rippling effect that will go beyond the 40 days in a teenager's youth ministry years. We would love for you to pray about being a part of this event with us.
