FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What worship leaders can I expect at a Deeper Encounter?
Although Deeper does not have a set Deeper band, God has brought together a select group of like-hearted worship leaders that continue to be in the room with us from Deeper to Deeper. These worship leaders include Joel Engle, Charlie Hall, Chris Tomlin, Michael John Clement, Todd Agnew and a few others.

How can I book a worship leader that is at Deeper Encounter?
All of the worship leaders that participate in Deeper and are on the Deeper Encounter Live CD have links on this web page. Just click on Community, then click on Friends. On the individual websites you can find booking information for that artist.

Who is David Nasser and what is his role in Deeper Encounter?
David Nasser is a speaker/author/visionary who communicates to half a million people a year proclaiming Christ-centered messages. As the founder of Deeper Encounter, David’s involvement always includes a variety of roles from the speaker of the event to coordinator and liaison to other guests and artists. Visit www.davidnasser.com to find more information about David.

How can Deeper Encounter be made into a full weekend event?
There are several options on how to build the Deeper Encounter Gathering into a full weekend event for your church. As a matter of fact, in many cities, the Deeper Encounter Gathering is used in a weekend Disciple Now format. Each Deeper Encounter is going to be different in its format and purpose for different churches. One unique facet of Deeper Encounter is the momentum of citywide accountability for the participant. Generally, Deeper Encounter partners with a network of interdenominational churches. This means that usually more than one church is in attendance at the event. However, we are always open to the Holy Spirit’s leading. For additional information about a pre-Deeper Friday night rally, Disciple Now discussion questions, and post 40-day wrap-ups, please contact Dana at dana@davidnasser.com.

Since Deeper Encounter centers around fasting, will there be food at the event?
Yes, because the Deeper fast is not about food. It is about taking the time to carve out an important activity each day in order to spend time with God. However, there have been groups that have chosen to go on an all day fast during the Deeper Encounter gathering. If you sense that God is calling you to fast as a group, please contact our office for useful information on fasting that we have available. During the gathering, there will be a conscious effort made to not make anyone fasting feel isolated, especially during lunch.

What do we do for lunch during the day?
Lunch will be held on-site due to time constrictions. A lunch from a vendor such as Chick-fil-a will be available for purchase for around $5. This includes a sandwich, drink and dessert. Tickets for lunch will be sold in the morning during registration or lunches can be brought to the event.

What do I do if I have missed a few days while fasting and going through the book?
Do not be hard on yourself if you get a little behind during the 40-day fast. God’s grace is sufficient to cover you. Do your best to catch up and get back on the schedule. You can do this by covering an extra ½ day for every day that you are behind. We also recommend that you find accountability with a partner or through your youth pastor. Give someone permission to hold you accountable. Whatever you do, don’t quit. If you try to do this by yourself, you will fail. With God’s power and some accountability, you will be successful.

What other resources could I use during the fast with A Call to Die?
Accountability outside of your church is an important part of the fast. Along with your Bible, there are several books that can aid you in your journey to go deeper. Here are a few of the classics:

· Transforming Grace by Jerry Bridges
· Desiring God by John Piper
· Celebrations of Disciplines by Richard Foster
· Spirit of Disciplines by Dallas Willard
· Hunger for God by John Piper
· Evangelism and The Sovereignty of God by J.I. Packer
· The Power in Praising God by Charles Spurgeon
· Free at Last by Tony Evans

*Many might consider this material too deep for most people, but if you take you time and savor the pages one word at a time, deep will call to deep.

What can I read after completing the 40-day fast?

There are several good devotional books available to aid an individual in continuing to deepen their relationship with God. Here are a few that we recommend:

· Commentary on Galatians
by Martin Luther
· Experiencing God by Henry Blackaby
· Godward Life by John Piper
· My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers

I am having spiritual problems in a specific area of my life. Can you help me?
Yes, we can suggest three ways for you to find help. First and foremost, you should contact your local pastor or youth minister. These people know you and your situation and can help you specifically with your problem and follow up with you in the future. Second, you can find help by clicking on the 24hour counselor link on this website. This is an interactive website that is practical, yet biblically based and has information on many of the issues that students face today. Third, we are available to assist you in your problem. You can reach us by email at leann@davidnasser.com.

There is a friend of mine who is from another religon. I know that you used to be a muslim. How do I witness to them?

The way you witness to someone from a different religion is the same way you witness to anyone. You love them, live your beliefs consistantly in front of them and tell them about Jesus. If you have any questions, www.christiananswers.net is a good site about other religons.
